MobileHelp review

A home system, a mobile device, and a Duo option that covers the house and one person away from it.

The short answer. MobileHelp is worth a look for two people in one household. Its Duo System pairs a cellular base station at home with a mobile device for whoever goes out, so the house and one person away from it are both covered. Service is month-to-month with no contract, monitored 24 hours a day, and family can check in through MobileHelp Connect. We have not tested MobileHelp hands-on; everything below comes from MobileHelp's own published information.

The three devices, and what each one is for

MobileHelp's line-up comes down to where the person spends their day.[1]

  • Classic Landline. An in-home base station that runs over a phone line, with a home range MobileHelp states at up to 600 feet.[2] Only sensible if a landline is already in place and the person rarely leaves the house.
  • Classic Cellular. The same idea on the cellular network, with a stated home range of up to 1,400 feet — enough to cover most houses and a garden.[2] No phone line needed.
  • Elite. The on-the-go device, with GPS and Wi-Fi-assisted location, worn on a necklace or belt clip. MobileHelp states a battery life of up to 6 days in standard mode, and says it is water resistant enough for the shower or bath.[1][2]

The home pendant and wrist button have batteries MobileHelp says last over five years, and the base station keeps working for about 30 hours on its backup battery if the power goes out.[2]

How the Duo System covers two people

This is the reason MobileHelp sits in our rankings as the pick for couples. MobileHelp describes the Duo System as getting "help both inside your home and away from home": one person is covered by the cellular base station at home, while the other carries the mobile device when they go out.[3]

Know where it stops. Inside the house, both people are covered. Away from home, only the person carrying the mobile device is. If both of you regularly go out separately, one Duo System leaves one of you uncovered, and you would need a second mobile device. Ask MobileHelp directly how that would be set up and billed. Our guide to covering two people walks through how to work out which situation you are in.

What family can see

MobileHelp Connect is a set of online tools for the subscriber and authorized caregivers. MobileHelp says it lets them check system status, receive emergency and non-emergency alerts, and locate a mobile GPS device, with 30 location requests included each month. Standard features come at no extra cost; premium features are an additional monthly fee.[4]

Contract and cancellation

MobileHelp states that it "does not require a contract" and that the subscription is month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time.[2] Its published FAQ does not say whether there is an activation or equipment fee, so ask before you order.

Who it suits

Two people in one home where one of them is out regularly and the other is mostly in. That is exactly the shape the Duo System is built for. It also suits someone who wants a long-lasting mobile battery without the cost of a smartwatch.

Who should look elsewhere

A couple who both spend a lot of time out separately, since one mobile device covers only one of them away from home. And anyone relying on a landline in a large home: the Classic Landline's stated range is well under half that of Classic Cellular.

What to watch

  • The Duo covers one person away from home, not two.
  • Classic Landline's stated range is 600 feet, against 1,400 for Classic Cellular.
  • Base stations and wall buttons are not waterproof — only the pendants and the Elite are rated for the shower.[2]
  • Premium MobileHelp Connect features cost extra.[4]
  • Activation or equipment fees are not stated in the published FAQ.

Five questions to ask MobileHelp before you order

  1. Is there an activation or equipment fee on the plan I'm choosing?
  2. Is fall detection included, or an add-on, for the device I'm getting?
  3. If both of us go out separately, how do we get a second mobile device, and how is it billed?
  4. Which MobileHelp Connect features are free, and which need the premium add-on?
  5. If I cancel, do I return the equipment, and is there any charge if I don't?

How it compares on our criteria

MobileHelp's strongest points against our criteria are contract terms — no contract, month-to-month — and a two-person arrangement that covers the home and one person away on a single system. Its caregiver tools are solid, with premium features at extra cost. We cannot assess monitoring response ourselves, because we have not tested it. The full method is on our methodology page, and all six providers are compared side by side in the 2026 rankings.
